1. What to see
The Badaling section of Great Wall is about 3, 740 meters long and averagely 8 meters high. The highest section is 15 meters high. The wall is wide enough for five horses to ride abreast.
Every other 300 to 500 meters, there are watchtowers. The fighting watchtowers consist of two floors: the ground floor was used for living, storing weapons and the top floor was used for watching and shooting. The greatest attraction is the scenic panoramic view from the watchtowers. As you climb higher and higher, you'll see the entire region from a bird's point of view.
Furthermore, you'll find a small temple, a massive gate, restaurants and shops at the entrance of Badaling area. Just close to Badaling, there are is a big Great Wall Museum and the Great Wall National Theater.
2. When to see
Opening hours: 06:40 to 18:30. It is recommended to estimate at least 1.5 hour for hiking.
4. How to get there
Most tourists visit China on a package tour that usually includes the Geat Wall. If travelling on your own, probably the easiest way is to hire a taxi in Beijing.
