Cambodia has a tropical monsoon climate, with four different seasons. The cool and dry season lasts from November to February with daily temperatures around the mid20s and with rather cooler nights. The monsoon rains last till October or early November and mid-November brings plenty of sunshine with light breeze and cool nights. This season is considered the best time to visit Cambodia. In March and April sunshine is much more intense and temperatures can reach the 30s. Only a few showers can occur in the afternoons, thus is this the hot and dry season. River and lake levels are very low, making it difficult to travel by boat / ferry. The hot and wet season begins in June and lasts till the end of August. It is generally recommended to avoid coastal areas at this period of the year because monsoon rains can last there for several days. On the other hand, it may only rain for a few hours in continental areas, enabling visitors to enjoy temples of Angkor even during that period of the year. The cool and wet season begins in September with the rains getting completely stopped by October. Temperatures can fall below the 30s during that season.
